How to Fix Mobile Screen Mirroring Not Starting

Note: The settings paths described in the following steps may vary slightly depending on your system version or personal settings.

If mobile screen mirroring fails to start, it's usually because the phone cannot connect to the computer via the local network. Here are possible causes and solutions:

1. Connect to the Same Wi-Fi Network

Ensure that both your phone and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

2. Allow "Meeting Assistant" Through the Computer Firewall

Follow these steps to ensure the application can receive connections through the system firewall:

  1. Open "Control Panel" (you can quickly access it by typing "Control Panel" in the Windows search box).
  2. Select "System and Security," then click on "Windows Defender Firewall."
  3. In the left menu, click on "Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall."
  4. Click the "Change settings" button (administrator permissions are required).
  5. Find the "Meeting Assistant" application, ensure it's checked, and allowed to communicate on both "Private" and "Public" networks.
  6. If "Meeting Assistant" is not in the list, click "Allow another app" to add it.
  7. Note: The steps may vary slightly depending on the version of Windows.

3. Change Network Profile to Private

Setting your Wi-Fi network to Private can help Windows relax connection restrictions, enhancing compatibility between devices.

  1. Click on the Wi-Fi network icon in the taskbar, then select your currently connected Wi-Fi network.
  2. Right-click on the network name and select "Properties."
  3. You can also click on the information icon next to your Wi-Fi network (usually an "i" in a circle).

  4. In the new window that opens, find the "Network profile" or "Network type" option.
  5. Select "Private" as the network type.

4. Disable VPN and Virtual Network Adapters

If you are using a VPN on your computer or phone, temporarily disable it, as it may affect network configuration.

5. Check Other Security Software Settings

Ensure that no other security software (such as additional firewalls or network monitoring tools) is blocking your computer's applications from communicating.
